As a copywriter for both boys and girls toys within Mattel Inc., I engage with the company’s marketing teams (and sometimes designers) in order to produce detailed toy descriptions that are accurate, lively, and on-brand. Each individual copy block has to be given a stamp of approval by marketing, legal, and in some cases, licensing teams associated with that brand. The finalized content is then published online by several big-box retailers to play a critical role in driving customer purchase decisions.




For my latest assignment, I channeled superheroes, monsters and ghouls, fairytale princesses, and various segments within the Barbie brand (entertainment, estate, family, career) in order to write 2-4 sentence descriptions conveying to retailers what they can expect to find and sell with each toy or playset.
